Roger Fenske, 94, passed away October 7, 2023, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
Roger E. Fenske was born on May 5, 1929, to his parents Emil and Bernice (Orndorff) Fenske in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Church in Rural Fergus Falls. Roger got his education at Seeba School before working on his family’s farm which was homesteaded by his grandparents in Friberg Township. He joined the army on January 26, 1953 and served until November 30, 1954, as active duty in Korea. At one point during this time he was guarding the DMZ.
On June 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Barbara (Trangsrud) at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. To this union two sons were born: Jonathan and Timothy. Roger continued farming on the family farm before he started working in sales and management for a fertilizer company. Later, Roger and Barbara started a soil testing business which they did together until their retirement.
Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting with his grandsons, and gardening at his home on Eagle Lake. Most importantly, he liked spending time with his wife, friends, and family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Fenske, and his sister Nancy Erickson.
He is survived by his sons Jonathan (Kathleen) Fenske of St. Paul, Timothy Fenske of Bloomington; grandchildren Abigail (Colin) Rooney, Benjamin Fenske, Joseph (Rachelle) Fenske, Elizabeth Fenske; six great-grandchildren; sisters Janice (Johansen) of Fergus Falls, and Sharon (Moe) of Eau Claire, WI.
Memorials preferred to Eagle Lake Church of Battle Lake, MN.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Eagle Lake Church in Battle Lake, MN, with a visitation beginning an hour prior.
Burial will be at Eagle Lake Cemetery.
