Roger Gong Obituary
At age 14, he immigrated to the United States and joined the Navy at age 18. He proudly served on the USS Clarence K. Bronson during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He earned a high school GED.
On July 26, 1959, he married Lilian L. Mah and raised 3 children.
He was part owner, manager, bartender of Hong Luck (one of the first Chinese restaurants in Rockland County) and also worked in the Nanuet Post Office later in his career.
He was a dedicated member of the Nanuet-West Nyack Rotary Club for close to 6 decades. His passions included fishing, landscaping/gardening and grocery shopping/cooking.
He is survived by his son Kenneth (Basking Ridge, NJ), his son Daniel and daughter Kim (West Nyack, NY), 3 grand children (Dylan, Shane, Kaila), and many nieces/nephews. His wife Lillian predeceased him in August 2004.
Roger will be loved, missed, and remembered by all who knew him.
Services to be held at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 34 N. Summit Street, Pearl River, NY on December 12, 2025 from 4-8pm. Mass of Christian burial to be held at St Anthony's Parish Church, Nanuet on December 13, 2025 at 10 am.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nanuet Rotary Scholarship Foundation-Post Office Box 281, Nanuet, NY 10954
