Roger L. Gutheil, 82, of Pataskala, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 4, 1943, in Delaware, Ohio, Roger was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose steady presence brought warmth, strength, and deep love to all who knew him.
Roger retired as an electrician after 38 years with Lucent Technologies in Columbus, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966 aboard the USS Orion. Throughout his life, Roger remained deeply committed to his family and to the values he held close to his heart. He was known for his sense of humor, strong work ethic, and generous spirit, and he touched countless lives through his work, his service, and the many ways he showed up for others. Whether fishing, camping, riding his Gold Wing, or simply enjoying time with family, Roger lived each day with purpose and gratitude.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothea, his partner in 63 years of love and life together; his children, Sheila (Greg) Parks, Jay (Shonda) Gutheil, and Amanda Gutheil; his grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Allison, Haleigh (Ryan) Allen, Keaton Parks, Zachary Gutheil, and Jaylee Anderson; and his three great grandchildren, Quinn, Ila, and Layne, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Montecalvo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Catherine Gutheil.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at a later date.
