MASON, NH: Herbert W. Gutheil, 86, of Mason, NH formerly of Carlisle, MA, died unexpectedly Monday, January 29, 2024. Herb was born in Huntington, Long Island, NY, January 2, 1938, a son of Herbert H. Gutheil and Dorothy (Farley) Clark and grew up in Huntington, NY. He was a Sergeant and veteran of the United States Army. He resided many years in Carlisle before moving to Mason in 2007. Herb spent his career working as a very successful self-employed builder before retiring seventeen years ago. Herb, with his loved wife Anne, operated Prospect Farm on his property until this day. He enjoyed raising and training Quarter Horses and was an avid member of the AQHA. Herb showed his prized Quarter Horses all over the country winning many Grand Championships. Herb's horses were sought after for their beauty and stellar lineage. Herb was a very strong born-again Christian, reading his bible daily. Herb worked tirelessly to tell as many people as he could about the Lord and how to come to be saved. Herb leaves his beloved wife and best friend of nearly 60 years, Anne M. (Gilman) Gutheil, his son Richard Gutheil and his wife Karen of Ayer, two daughters, Kimberly A. (Gutheil) Larochelle and her husband Robert Larochelle of Mason, NH and Christine A. (Gutheil) Hodges and her husband Donald Hodges of Mason, NH, his sister Barbara Gutheil of Montpelier, VT; eight grandchildren, Nick Gutheil, Tom Gutheil, T.J. Curran, Chrissy Curran, Samson Hodges, Drew Hodges, Manuela Figueroa, Breanna Gutheil. Herb was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was the rock of our family. Herb was a man of extreme integrity with an unmatched work ethic. Herb will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte. 119) Townsend Center. www.Andersonfuneral.com. Mr. Gutheil's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
