Roger Dean Harkness

Roger Dean Harkness peacefully passed away on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 3:22 p.m. He was surrounded by loved ones as he met his Lord and Savior. Roger loved fishing in the woods, where he felt at peace with nature. He also loved golfing, being a volunteer firefighter at Southington Company 1, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Ann Harkness; his daughter, Jennifer Findley; and his stepchildren: Janice and Johnathan Ricketts, Kevin and Amy Costello, and Stephanie and David Calamari. Roger has 11 grandchildren: Skylar and Timothy Findley; Kirk, Simon, Emma, Jacob, and Anna Ricketts; Madelyn and Kendall Costello; and Elizabeth and Alessandra Calamari.
He loved spending time at Cape Cod with his wife, eating lobster, and shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop. His smile could always be seen during the holidays, surrounded by his grandchildren. Roger will be sorely missed.
We will be celebrating Roger's life on December 6th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cathedral, located at 211 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360, followed by his burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, located on Route 207 in Baltic, Connecticut.
