Roger Hendrix, age 74, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born on May 24, 1951, in Corinth, Mississippi, he was the beloved son of Mabrine McAnally Hendrix and Nelson T. Hendrix.
A devoted husband, faithful friend, and creative soul, Roger lived a life marked by kindness, craftsmanship, and quiet strength. He spent his career as a civil engineer with the National Park Service, where his work reflected his deep appreciation for nature and preservation. After retiring, Roger remained active and joyful, devoting his time to the hobbies and people he loved most.
Roger was a longtime member of Lakeshore Tabernacle, where his faith was evident in both word and deed. He had a special gift for music, playing nearly any stringed instrument he picked up, as well as the drums. His passion for music led him twice a year to Mountain View, Arkansas, where he camped, played, and found fellowship at beloved music festivals.
An artist at heart, Roger also found joy in photography, painting, and creating stained glass pieces that reflected his gentle spirit and keen eye for beauty. Whether through a song, a photo, or a handmade piece of glass, Roger shared his light generously with those around him.
He married the love of his life, Linda Foster, 25 years ago. Together they shared a bond of true companionship and laughter, and he cherished every moment spent in her company.
Roger will be remembered for his big heart, his unwavering faith, and the quiet, steady love he offered to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hendrix; son, Casey Hendrix and wife, Cheryl; granddaughter, Laken Hendrix; three grandsons, Cayson Hendrix, Skyler Clemons, and Jarek Clark; three great-grandchildren, Paisley Rein Hall, Labaron Lance Hall, and Breighlyn Jean Hall; brother, Virgil Hendrix and wife, Ellen; brother-in-law, Jerry Foster and wife, Deborah; and neighbors that he thought the world of that went above and beyond to help when needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Foster, Larry George, Cayson Hendrix, Larry Green, Carl Sherff, Robert Thrasher, Danny Dorman, Mike Roebuck, and Tony Botts.
Visitation will be 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring the life of Roger will be 5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Saltillo Chapel with Rev. John Foster officiating.
