Roger Dale Hensley Sr, 75 (though he looked much younger) finally gets to sleep as long as he wants after passing away Friday Oct 13, 2023 at The Willows in Corydon, Indiana.
Surprisingly, it wasn't the chain smoking, chain dipping, the 1960's & 70's, or the chain heart attacks that killed him. Plot twist: it was a short bout of liver cancer though he's certain he would have passed years before had it not been for all the bologna, fried eggs, preservatives, & Dr Stavens that kept him going.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents William Doyle Hensley & Rosa Hall Nay, his siblings Richard, Rex, Charlotte, Sharon, and Donna, along with many other friends and family whom he was shocked to outlive.
He retired after working many years for South Harrison Community School Corporation & TSS Testing.
Roger was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church which he opted not to make any jokes about because he feels like he is already pushing his luck of acceptance into the pearly gates. He was a previous member of Rusty Hinges, Ramblin Rebels, Floyd County Coon Hunters Club and some other things that weren't as much fun.
Roger loved traveling with his wife, Paula, spending time with his grandchildren that he adored, eating out, especially with friends, riding his motorcycle all over the country, mowing his yard as short as a golf green, certain cold beverages, CNN, every Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson movie, his recliner, and going to bed.
He wanted to list all the things he didn't enjoy such as cleaning the pool filter (and really any pool maintenance) but that would make his obituary too long.
Survivors include (in order of favorites):
1) his wife of 44yrs, Paula Anderson Hensley.
2) his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
3) a tie between his dog which was really a stray that hung around called Farm Dog and his
children; Roger Hensley Jr (Cathy), Terry Deatrick, Michelle Wilson (Scott), Audrey Deatrick, and Kathy Hensley.
4) yet another tie- his buddy Mike Hornickel, his remaining sister Catherine, and several nieces & nephews.
If you want to come to the funeral home you can but his friend Neal that agreed years ago to sing at his funeral with his band died already so it won't be as good.
Love,
Roger

I was one of Roger´s nieces from his 1st marriage. 2 of his children Roger Jr and Michelle are my first cousins.
We were very fond of Uncle Roger and I can still hear his laughter when he and my Dad (whose passed too) would be cutting up! I also have to agree that he didn´t look 75. Peace and Prayers to all of his children and Grandchildren.

Love Sandy
