ROGER A HOWARD

Roger was born and grew up in the greater Boston area. At the start of WWII, he enlisted in the Army and fought in Europe at The Battle of the Bulge and the Bridge at Remagen. In later years he authored his wartime memoirs in Call to Duty. Upon returning from the war, Roger graduated from Bates College and married his love, Beverly. Together they settled in Concord MA and raised their family.
As an educator, Roger devoted his career to Brookline MA High School as a history teacher and Guidance Counselor.
After retirement, Roger and Beverly spent their time between their homes in Castine, ME, the GlenLakes community in Weeki Wachee, FL, and Maui, HI. In addition, the couple loved to travel the world on exciting adventures.
Roger always had a story to tell. Those stories along with his sense of humor captivated family, friends and sometimes strangers. He will be remembered by all who met him for his incredible memory and wit, especially his family who would gather by his side to hear his latest story.
The family will miss these times but the memories he leaves will carry on through their lifetime. He is survived by Beverly, his wife of 74 years, his four children Douglas, Pamela, Gail, Donna, their spouses, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Roger is an example of a man who lived life to the fullest and found happiness each and every day of his 100 years.
He is a true legend to all who had the pleasure to know him and love him.
