Roger James Obituary
Roger Leslie James, 65, of Mount Hope passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Bowers Hospice House.
Born November 17, 1960 he was the son of the late Jack Lowell James, Sr. and Barbara June Duncan James Underwood.
Roger was a proud 1979 graduate from Mount Hope School and after high school he started working in the coal mines. Roger loved the Lord with all his heart along with his church family as he was a 40 plus year member at the Maynor Freewill Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. In his leisure he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working as he loved to be active working. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his brother, Jack James, Jr.
Those left to cherish his wonderful and special memory include his loving wife, Nancy Ward James; son, Jason James; along with several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Roger's wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
