Roger Krause Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 28, 2024.
In memory of Roger Krause, 10/4/1945 - 8/26/2024. Preceded in death by parents,
Edward and Ruth Krause; and brother, Alexander. He is survived by his sisters, Judith Tennebaum (Bruce), and Shelley Levine (Martin); niece, Alyssa Berg (Douglas); nephew, Daniel Tennebaum (Touch Thouk); great-nephews, Eli Berg and Max Schroder; and great-niece, Anna Berg; as well as many cousins; and dear friend, Beryl Greenberg. Roger received a PhD in social psychology from Northwestern University where he focused on peace and conflict resolution. He was a co-founder of an urban commune in Chicago where he lived for most of his life. The commune was home to many long-term residents as well as passing activists including Granny D who walked across America at the age of 90 to publicize the need for campaign finance reform. Roger was a film buff, music lover and enjoyed going to art fairs where he purchased ceramics and sculpture. He was an avid reader of science fiction and took great pleasure from photography and computer technology. He was a passionate follower of politics, campaigned for Eugene McCarthy among others and served on the board of his neighborhood branch of Jane Addams Hull House, a provider of social services. After moving to Minneapolis, Roger lived for several years at The Kenwood Senior Residence before moving to the Jones-Harrison Senior Residence. In both of those settings, he quickly made friends with the staff and other residents thanks to his gregarious nature and sense of humor. The family is very grateful to the staff at The Kenwood, Jones-Harrison and Grace Hospice who helped him at each stage. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service to be held on FRIDAY, August 30, 2024, 11:00 am at the ADATH YESHURUN CEMETERY, 5605 France Ave. S., Edina; also available via Zoom at: www.hodroffs.com/RogerKrause
