Roger Lehr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - East York on Feb. 5, 2026.
Rodger L. Lehr, 91, of York, PA, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2026 at WellSpan York Hospital.

Rodger was born on December 16th, 1934 to Margaret (Lehr) Hoffman in York, PA. After Rodger graduated from William Penn High School in 1952, he enlisted into the United States Army to serve his country. While stationed in Germany, his athletic gifts allowed him to travel throughout Europe, playing baseball and basketball with fellow service members.

After an honorable discharge from the Army in 1954, Rodger returned to York and started an electrical and mechanical apprenticeship at York International. He stayed with the company for 43 years, before retiring in 1997 as a supervisor in the engineering lab.

Rodger pursued his passions well into retirement, including: hunting, fishing, and playing in multiple local sports leagues year-round. His athletic achievements earned him induction into the York Central League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997, in addition to multiple local awards for bowling and golf. He also enjoyed an active social life as a long time member of the Hawks Gunning Club and the Prince Athletic Association.

Rodger was preceded in death by his grandson Zachary Miller. He is survived by his wife Susan (Debes) Lehr; sister Sharon (Hoffman) Crone and husband Jeff; daughters Missy (Lehr) Miller and husband Jay, and Stacy (Lehr) Santinello and husband Bill; son Brent Lehr and wife Anchasa; six grandchildren, Rebekah, Kate, Jessie, Tyler, Adam, and Brayden; and two great grandchildren, Addie and Daisy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews on the Lehr, Hoffman and Debes sides of his family.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the York County SPCA.
