Roger Lord Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maupin Funeral Home - Fulton on Mar. 6, 2026.
Roger Dale Lord, 76, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by the love of his family.

Roger was born on April 9, 1949, in Callaway County, Missouri, to the late Charles and Virginia (Myers) Lord.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After he left the military, he worked for many years at Harbison Walker. In his free time, Roger enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also had a knack for telling tall stories that could keep family and friends laughing for hours. Roger enjoyed trying his luck gambling, smoking a cigarette, and occasionally enjoying a cold beer.

Those who knew Roger will remember his playful spirit and the way he loved giving the people he cared about a hard time, always with a smile and a laugh. Above all else, Roger cherished time spent with his family. Having them gathered around him was what brought him the most happiness.

Those that remain to cherish his memory are his sons, Jeff Kirk, Joe Kirk (Danitra); daughter, Michelle Nichols (Randy); brothers, Vollie "Pete" Lord; sisters, Janet Steinhardt (Frank), Barbara Ward, Connie Loyd; sister-in-law, Karen Lord; grandchildren, Kenny Nichols (Candra), Patrick Nichols (Caitlin Ahearn), Josh Nichols, Taylor Hoover, Tara Kirk, Harley Kirk, Traci Kirk, along with four great grand children and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, especially his cousin Cheryl Derry, who lovingly cared for him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Kirk; brothers, Charles Lord (Linda), Danny Lord, Gary Lord; sister, Judy Adams (Paul); brother-in-law, George Ward; sister-in-law, Peggy Lord.

Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mike Crowson Officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Calwood off of county road 134 with full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the Fischer House, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
