Roger Harold Lowry was born on July 8, 1946, in Springfield, Missouri, and grew up in Walnut Grove, Missouri. He passed away on December 26, 2025, residing in Liberty City, Texas, at the time of his passing.

He was a devoted husband for 40 years to the late Edith LaBelle Lowry, whom he married in 1975 while stationed in Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Roger proudly served 28 years in the U.S. Army and the Texas Army National Guard. After his military service, he worked for over 25 years as a custodian and maintenance worker at First Baptist Church of Longview and then onto Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Longview.

After retiring Roger volunteered with Meals on Wheels around the Longview Area and was part of the American Legion Post in Longview helping to build wheelchair ramps for disabled veterans.

He was also a member of Renewed Life Baptist Church of Liberty City, Texas.

He was a beloved father to his only child Jonathan David Lowry and his wife, Heather Lowry, and a cherished grandfather to Jonathan Paul Lowry and Erika Bailey Jo Lewis, along with their spouses Savannah Jordyn Lowry and Ethan Sean Lewis.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife Edith LaBelle Lowry, brother Gary Lowry and his sister Betty Lowry.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amanda Coombs for her dedicated care for Roger for the last 18months.

He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and loved the game of baseball. He also loved to walk the walking trails around Longview.

He will be missed by numerous nieces and other family members.

Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Lowry, Ethan Lewis, Ryan Grantham, Christ McLeod, Everett Pickering, Travis Laastad.

Family and friends will gather to visit on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 6-8pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A service to honor his life will take place the following day, January 3rd, at 2pm, at Rader. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rosewood Park.
