Roger Lawrence Minger, 70, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born on June 13, 1954, in New Martinsville, WV, Roger was the only son among six children born to the late Lawrence and Margaret Wells Minger. On October 26, 1991, he married Loretta Evans.
Roger dedicated many years of service to the City of Weirton, working in the Street Department as a heavy machine operator and truck driver before his retirement.
He will be remembered fondly for his goofy and fun-loving personality, his deep affection for his wife, and the unwavering bond he shared with his sisters and their families. Roger was a man who found joy in simple pleasures-spending hours fishing in any lake or pond he could find, especially when he could crack open a few beers and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. An avid outdoorsman, he also loved to hunt deer and squirrels in the hills "down State."
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joanne Minger Forrester and Patty Sue Minger Eddy.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 33 years, Loretta Minger; and his three sisters, Betty June Henderson, Edna Eddy, and Sally Ash. His presence, his humor, and his big heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 PM until 8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday.
Pastor Jim Rhodes will preside.
Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens.
