Roger Leo Nayback

Roger Leo Nayback of Skandia, Michigan, died on January 28, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on August 12, 1954, to parents Clifford Leo and Anita Pricilla (Litzner) Nayback.
Roger grew up in Rudyard, Michigan, with his family. He graduated from Rudyard High School with the class of 1972 and entered the workforce. He was a Jack of all trades and dipped his toes into many different jobs from bartending, construction, well drilling, and out in the woods, however, he found a lifelong career with the State of Michigan when he became a correction officer in 1979. It was during his time as a lieutenant that he met his future wife, Jennifer "Jen" Franklin. Life would later bring them together and they would eventually marry on February 19, 1994. Roger retired in 2005 and enjoyed retirement life spending time with his family.
Roger was a member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG).
Roger loved all things "fast"; he enjoyed riding his motorcycle cross country, snowmobiling in the winter, watching NASCAR and most of all, taking part in the Nayback Snowmobile Racing and stock racing with his son, Tony. He will most fondly be remembered for his willingness to help friends and family; Roger was always there when a friend needed him, and he will be greatly missed.
Roger is survived by his wife; Jennifer; children, Tony (Angela) Nayback of Skandia, Erik (Kelly Kemp) Nayback of Anaheim, California, and Brandy (Troy) Godfrey of Rudyard; grandchildren, Elenor, Mikeal, Miah, Evan, Austin, Macie, Shelby, and Nevaeh; brother, Steve (Shelley McCormick) Nayback of Newberry, Michigan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Anita; and brother, Kenneth Nayback.
A Memorial Luncheon will be held on February 5, 2023, beginning at 2 PM at the St. James Lutheran Church in Rudyard, 11118 W 3rd St, Rudyard, MI 49780.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 11, 2023, at 4 PM at the Barge Inn, 206 W Superior St, Munising, MI 49862.
