ROGER H. QUIRK
January 14, 1949 - January 24, 2026
Roger Quirk loved cars.
He loved driving them, from his first one - a 1974 light blue two-door Pontiac Catalina - to his prized bright-red 2000 Chevrolet Corvette, which he could be seen driving throughout the streets of Manitowoc as soon as the weather turned each spring.
He loved selling them - during a four-decade career spent helping buyers find the ride they'd feel as passionate about as he'd felt about each of his.
He loved watching them and talking about them - especially during his frequent visits to 141 Speedway with his need-for-speed buddies.
And, occasionally, he loved racing them - including a few unauthorized test drives he did with the high-performance vehicles he'd take home from the historic Hamachek automobile dealership early in his sales career.
He also loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, watching old Westerns, and Wisconsin sports - especially the Packers.
But more than anything, Roger loved people. Which is why he will be missed by so many of them after he passed away on January 24, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center at age 77 after a brief illness.
He is missed by Sandy Geiger, his love of almost 20 years; his sons, Jason Quirk of Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and Matthew Quirk of Two Rivers; his grandson, Kaleb Gulseth of Two Rivers; his sister J'Ette and brother-in-law Keary Getter of Whitelaw; Trevor Amel, whom he treated like his third son; and the Wilde family - Paula, Jason and their daughters, Madison and Sydney, whom he proudly embraced as his granddaughters.
He spent many days in the past 10 years attending their gymnastic meets, dance recitals, volleyball matches, basketball, soccer, softball games, and choir concerts. And always came away from the concession stand with Peanut M&M's.
He is also missed by his many, many friends and classmates from the Manitowoc Lincoln High School class of 1967, some of whom have met each Wednesday for lunch at the Fat Seagull Bar & Grill on Quay Street for the past 15-plus years, to swap stories and reminisce. Roger always scheduled his appointments to avoid conflicts with those lunches and always said, "I've got to meet the boys," before heading out. Their first gathering without him simply wasn't the same.
And from those beloved lunchmates, to friends and relatives, to whoever was lucky enough to be sitting next to him at a sporting event or event, people knew immediately they were with a conversationalist.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert J. and Catherine Quirk, and his infant brother, Phillip.
We wish to express our gratitude to the Aurora Medical Center doctors, ICU nurses and staff for their kindness and compassion. In accordance with Roger's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of his life is being planned for family and close friends at a future time.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Roger would have asked for you to enjoy a dinner at a local supper club with those close to you and tell them that you love them.
