Roger J. Schwarzott

July 25, 1935 - January 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger J. Schwarzott, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on an unforeseen journey, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love and laughter. Born on July 25, 1935, in Buffalo, NY, Roger enriched the lives of everyone he met until his passing due to acute myeloid leukemia.

Roger was the cherished son of Michael and Eileen (nee Barlow) Schwarzott and grew up in a household filled with warmth, laughter, and the values of hard work and dedication. He was preceded in death by his dear siblings—Robert (late Dolley), Ronald (late Mary Ann), Mitchell, Eric (late Carol), and Sue (late Robert)—who shaped his life with their love and support. The bonds he shared with his family were profound, and their memories held a special place in his heart.

Roger's love story began when he married his beloved wife, Janice (Darner), in Buffalo. Their 62 years together were filled with a deep affection that flourished through every joy and challenge life presented. He took immense pride in his family, which includes his loving in-laws, the late Thomas & Evelyn Darner (nee Ripple), his brother-in-laws Thomas & (late Kathleen nee Keenan), James (late) & Terrie. His legacy lives on in his adoring children, Amy and Roger (Christine), and his treasured grandchildren, Kaitlin, Noah, Jennafer, Hannah, Kara, and Gabriel. The joy and love Roger had for his family was immeasurable, and he often expressed how they were his greatest achievement.

His professional journey was marked by dedication and commitment, spending significant years with Crosby and later the City of Buffalo. Through his work, Roger demonstrated a strong work ethic and a passion for serving his community, reflecting the values instilled in him from a young age.

Roger was not just known for his hard work; he was also celebrated for his wicked sense of humor and loving nature. He had an uncanny ability to bring smiles to the faces of those around him, often lightening the mood with a well-timed joke or a playful quip. His laughter was infectious, and his kindness knew no bounds. He made friends effortlessly and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his immediate family, Roger is survived by his beloved sisters Mary (late Paul) Schwarzott, Barbara (late Camillo) Gabrielli, and many nieces and nephews who will carry on his spirit and cherished memories. His love and laughter will echo through the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we remember Roger J. Schwarzott, let us celebrate a life well-lived—filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us with his unwavering love and humor. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
