Roger Dale Scobey, age 76, of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family at Jackson–Madison County General Hospital.
Roger was born on January 14, 1950, in Ridgely, Tennessee, to Mack and Florence May Scobey.
He proudly served in the United States Army including time in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Mr. Scobey also served in the National Guard for over 20 years. He later retired from Goodyear.
Roger was known for his sense of humor and his deep love for his family. He enjoyed working outside, growing his garden, and spending time on his tractor.
He is survived by his wife, Zhonda Scobey; three sons, Dwayne (Janeen) Scobey of Rutherford, Tennessee, Donnie Scobey of Milan, Tennessee, and Joe Daniel (Megan) Scobey of Seattle, Washington; one daughter, Beth (Michael) Minner; along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Karnes and Son in Rutherford, TN. Visitation will begin at 12:00. Service will begin at 2:00 with burial to follow at New Concord Cemetery in Kenton, Tennessee.
Pallbearers: Larry Mabry, Michael Mabry, Joshua Rotger, Steven Coble, Colin Fogerty, and Nathan Quast.
Honorary pallbearers: Phillip James and Terry Deslitch.
