Roger Lee Sharp, age 59, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home in Topeka, Kansas.
Roger was born on June 7, 1966, in Conway Springs, Kansas, to Larry and Eileen (Roths) Sharp. He grew up in Silver Lake with his parents and six siblings: Shari, Daniel, Catherine, Cynthia, Christina, and Stacy. Raised Catholic, Roger carried a deep faith throughout his life.
A 1984 graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, Roger was a standout athlete. He played football, baseball, and ran track—breaking several track records and earning all-city and all-state honors as a running back. He continued his athletic journey at Dodge City Community College on a football scholarship. In 1987, he earned an Electronics Service Technician degree from Amtech Institute in Wichita.
Roger was married to Rhonda Lee (McGinnis) Sharp for 10 years—1995 to 2005. They made their home in Topeka, Kansas, and were blessed with two children, Samantha and Trevor. He worked as a service technician for Protection One and AT&T.
Roger was known by his family as competent, smart, strong, adventurous, reserved, competitive, meticulous—and someone who “could run like the wind.” He loved being outdoors, soaking up sunshine while running, boating, water skiing, camping, working on cars, and even doing lawn work. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and was often found listening to hard rock music. Acts of service were Roger’s love language, and his ability to fix just about anything earned him the title of “handyman.”
Above all, Roger was a devoted and loving father. His greatest joy in life was his children.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Eileen Sharp, his sister Shari Sharp, and brother Daniel Sharp. He is survived by his children, Samantha and Trevor, and siblings Catherine Zielke (Wichita), Cynthia Sharp (Topeka), Christina Quinlan (Perry), and Stacy Sharp (Wichita).
He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at Penwell-Gabel Olathe on Tuesday, July 8th at 10am, with visitation beginning at 9am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roger’s life.
