ROGER SIMMS
Roger Simms, born April 19, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, to the late R. Dale & Betty (Rogers) Simms, passed away on September 14, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
Roger was a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing baseball, basketball, football, and running track. He loved to tell stories of games he played as quarterback and safety for Green High School. You could always find him at a game or practice for his children or grandchildren. He was known for his culinary efforts, and one-time owner of Anglemont Dairy which made, what the family considers, the best ice cream ever. And don’t get them started on his ribs.
Roger will be missed dearly by his children, Michael (Jessica) Simms and Marcella (Michael) Meditz; grandchildren, Madden, Myles, and Mia; sister, Becky Adams; nephew, Robby Tremble (Scott Meszaros); niece, Sara Wills; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and many friends who are more like family.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12 noon at Hecker-Paton Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown. A Graveside Service will follow at 12:30 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Roming Road, Akron.
We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Houston Methodist Hospital and Memorial-Hermann Health System for their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations in his name, to the Green High School Football Program, 1474 Boettler Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
