Roger Sam Stewart, of Benton, departed this life on September 17, 2025, at a Georgia healthcare facility.

He was born on September 22, 1953, in Benton, Tenn., to the late Tom and Lizzie Cronan Stewart. Throughout life, Roger was an avid raiser of chickens, tending to them most of his life. In his later years, his grandchildren became his prized possession, to whom he loved dearly and was over the moon about. He was also a passionate supporter of professional wrestling.

In addition to his parents, Tom and Lizzie C. Stewart, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Stewart; brothers, Steve (Diane) Stewart, Gilbert Stewart, and Gordon Stewart; one sister, Brenda Stewart; one nephew, Franklin Stewart.

Left to cherish the many memories include his one daughter, Angie Stewart Cherry (Jeremy Cartwright); one brother, Stanley Stewart; cherished grandchildren, Caleb Cherry and Charity Cartwright; great-grandchildren, Jade Stewart and Scarlett Stewart; nephews, Jeff (Jada) Stewart and Brad Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, with Jeremy Cartwright, Caleb Cherry, Jeff Stewart, Lance Stewart, Luke Tipton, and Daniel Harrold serving as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
