Avery M. Worthey, 61, of Ocoee, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 3, 1964, in Cleveland, TN., to the late Johnny J. and Shirley Forgey Worthey. Avery was a proud member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Benton, TN., a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, and pawpaw. A few of his fondest memories included his time working, fishing, spending time outdoors, and trading. He loved to bargain hunt and talk to everyone. He was passionate about the less fortunate and tried to be of help when possible. He would always say, "if you can't help 'em, don't hurt 'em."

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 39 years, Rita Worthey; daughters and sons-in-law, Lora and Ross Miller, Dana and Phil Trentham; grandchildren, Lily Anne Miller, Levi Avery Trentham, Kyren Reid Trentham, Lexi Jane, and Lainey Lou Trentham; brothers, Max and Dorothy Worthey, and Alvin Worthey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Rev. Michael Garrett and Rev. Tommy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with Ross Miller, Phil Trentham, Bucky Kelly, Jerry Blackwell, Ricky Bell, Scott Cronan, Albert Cronan, and Randall Payne serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Palmer and Bobby Killian.

His family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.HigginsFunerals.com.
