Roger D. Swalve, 85, of Arnolds Park passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
A private family visitation will be held at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, formerly the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com
Roger Dean Swalve was born on September 9, 1937, to Charles and Alice (Pedley) Swalve in Ocheyedan, IA. After he graduated from the Ocheyedan High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country until he was honorably discharged. Upon returning home, he was united in marriage to Frances Miller on June 20, 1964, in Hudson, SD. Roger worked for 40 years for the Berkley Company making various products for the company.
In his free time he enjoyed farming, spending time with dog Chewie and more than anything, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Frances Swalve of Arnolds Park; daughters Tammy Swalve of Arnolds Park; and Brenda (Roger) Updike of Spencer, IA; grandchildren Kimberly and her husband John; Rebecca and her husband Rhys and Jessica and her husband Angelo; 6 great grandchildren Skylan, Brexlee, Malaki, Liam, Luna and Mateo; and three sisters Deb Gettner, Karen Swalve and Jan Nielsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tim, great grandson Elyjah, and siblings Dwaine, Norman, Mary and PeeWee.
