Roger Wayne Ward, 61, of Ellerbe, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Roger was born June 28, 1964, in Richmond County, a son of Ralph Ward and the late Betty Jean Glover Glisson. He had served in the Florida National Guard for 17 years and was a truck driver with PAM Transport. He enjoyed building models, Marvel comics, Star Wars and Star Trek and hanging out by the fire. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Deborah McDonald and Ralph Ward.
Surviving are his father, Ralph Ward; wife, Virginia Lee Sanders; children, Justin Ward, Nadine Ward, Charles Ward; step-daughter, Santana Sanders Jackson; grandchildren, Jackson Ward, Dante Ward; step-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaac, Elijah, Maverick and Solomon Jackson; siblings, Cindy Russell (Brett), Johnny Ward (Liz), Melinda Grady and Regina Ward (Dee), and best friend, Mark Sellers.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 2, 2026, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family will greet friends following the service.
