A Memorial Service for Roger D Welin will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Helgeson Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later time.

Roger Welin passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 81.

Roger David Welin was born in Roseau, MN, on August 16, 1943, to A Gunnar and Blenda (Hattling) Welin. He grew up in Roseau and attended school there. Roger farmed and worked in the woods until he started at Roseau Electric, where he retired.

Roger Welin married June Holland in 1967 and had two daughters: Shawn Ludwig and Jennifer Anderson. Roger married Barbara Boroos in December 1985. With their marriage, he became a stepfather to Mona, Scott, Robyn, Kelly, and Dale. They enjoyed their time at Sandy Shores, where Roger loved ice fishing and visiting with neighbors. He looked forward to annual deer hunting trips with his family. Roger had a passion for coffee and cherished happy hours with friends and family. He created many wonderful memories with his grandchildren, whether they were playing games, going to the fair, or attending their sporting events. While growing up in Roseau, he made many life-long friends.

Roger is survived by his daughters Shawn (Robert) Ludwig, Jennifer (Pete) Anderson; stepchildren Scott (Terri) Boroos, Mona (Steve) Temple, Robyn (Kevin) Wiskow, Dale (Louise) Boroos; grandchildren, Haley (Adam) Toth, Anna Ludwig, Bryce Sullivan, Sadie Gornowicz, Michele Grove, Tyler Temple, Holly Surat, Sarah Blakeslee, Brooke Brateng, Ben Boroos, Tyson Temple, Katie Olson, Matthew Olson, Kody Prosser, Morgan Boroos; siblings, Shirley Lenius, Robert (Esther) Welin.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara Welin, step-children Bruce Boroos, Kelly Olson, step-grandson Bruce Wiskow, siblings Arthur, Luvern, Adeline, Grace, Irene, Delores and Donna.
