Roger Wheeler

Roger Wheeler was born on March 30, 1944, and passed away February 5, 2026.. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Bolton Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Johnson Cemetery.

Roger was known as a great man to many, but to his family he was simply the best. He was known for his kindness, his caring and loving heart and above all, his deep and unwavering faith in God. Roger never met a stranger - mostly because it seemed he already knew everyone. He had a rare gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and at ease.

Roger loved his family fiercely and was always just a phone call away, no matter the time or circumstance. Some of his happiest moments were spent riding horses or settling in to watch a good old western movie. His life was one of service - not only to his family, whom he cherished deeply, but also to his community. He proudly served as Mayor of Alabaster, Alabama for three terms, dedicating 12 years to leading and caring for the place he called home. He also served on the Montevallo Water Board for several years.

He is survived by his wife Marci, his siblings; Larry Wheeler (Elizabeth) and Nancy Youngblood (Roger); his children, Katie Reagin (Todd), Rebecca Horrell (Shane), and Jennifer Heidinger (Bobby); and his stepchildren, Jon Young and Brittany Dickson (John). He also leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a great many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Charles Phillip Wheeler and Katie Pauline Sanders; his brother, Danny Joe Wheeler (Red).

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find peace in knowing that Roger is whole again and resting in the arms of the Lord. His life, his love and his legacy will continue to guide us, and his memory will forever remain a treasured gift to all who knew him.
