Roger Lee Williams, 83, of Trout, WV, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following an unexpected illness.
Born March 12, 1941 at Trout, he was a son of the late Stella Williams Owens and Buddy Morris.
Roger was a Pastor for over 50 years and served his congregation at Trout Baptist Church most of those years. He was a mail carrier in the area for many years and was a former coal miner.
He loved the Lord and talking with people, in general, and about God. He also loved logging, farming, horses, and thoroughly enjoyed all outdoor activities. Most of all he deeply loved his wife, Peggy and spending time with her.
In addition to his mother, Roger is preceded in death by; two babies, Ellen Louise Williams and Kyle Spencer Williams as well as his son Russell "Choppy" Williams. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Erma Hylton and a brother, Dallas Owens.
Those left to cherish his memory, is his beloved wife of 35 years, Peggy Spencer Williams; a granddaughter, Lindsey Mamigonian and husband Zach of Denver, Colorado; their two children, Rocco Vartain Mamigonian and Lando Vartain Mamigonian, both of Denver, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Carol Williams; a sister, Patricia Campbell of Huntington, WV; a brother in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Pamela Witt of Conway, SC; a special cousin, Curtis Bryant of Lewisburg, WV; several nieces and nephews and many friends that he considered extended family.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Trout, Trout Road, Williamsburg, WV 24991. Roger's long time friend and Brother in Christ, James Edens will officiate the service.
A reception will immediately follow at The Williamsburg Community Building, 6571 Shoestring Trail, Williamsburg WV 24991.
In Lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Trout Baptist Church, P.O. Box 35, Williamsburg, WV 24991.
