Indiana Funeral Care - GreenwoodRoger Lee Wilson, born on October 17, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, passed away on February 26, 2026, at Rosegate Nursing Home. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth and humor.
Roger spent his professional life engaged in multiple endeavors such as an entrepreneur and owned a parking lot maintenance business, as an insurance agent and real estate agent while also working as a landlord. His career choices reflected his adventurous spirit and his passion for connecting with people. He served honorably for seven years in the Army National Guard, showcasing his dedication not only to his career but also to his country.
Married for 29 memorable years to his loving wife, Sherri (Mahan) Wilson, Roger created a marriage that was filled with love and laughter. Together, they forged a partnership that many admired, characterized by mutual respect and joy.
Roger was a man full of life; he was the life of the party known for his quick wit and sense of adventure. He had a profound love for the outdoors and found peace while fishing, hunting, and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Cooking was also a passion of his, reflecting his desire to share joy through food. Music played an essential role in his life as well, providing the soundtrack to his many cherished memories. Among his notable experiences, Roger once owned a thoroughbred racehorse, showcasing his adventurous and spirited personality.
He was a long-term member of the American Legion for 38 years, reflecting his commitment to camaraderie and community service. Roger's love for animals further endeared him to those around him, as he embraced a deep connection with nature and the living beings that inhabit it.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Sherri (Mahan) Wilson, his brother James Michael (Jan) Wilson of Elberfeld, IN, his daughter Laura (Richard) Jones of Indianapolis, IN, his son Roger Wilson II of Indianapolis, IN, and his cherished grandchildren Abigail (Stefan) Kasold of Salt Lake City, UT, Bretton Wilson, and Luke Kurti of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wilson, and his mother, Mary Ann (Frey) Wilt.
Visitation will be held on March 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM on the same day.
Roger Lee Wilson will be remembered fondly for his remarkable spirit, infectious laughter, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of adventure, humor, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
