Roland Pennison Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rush Funeral Home - Pineville on Oct. 1, 2025.
Buddy Pennison, 72, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 30, 1952. Buddy lived a life full of service, dedication, and devotion to those he held dear, and to the local community.
Buddy was a loving, devoted husband to his wife of fifty years, Dianne Pennison. Together they raised three wonderful children: Tiffany Pennison, Kimberly Rogers, and Shane Pennison. Buddy was a devoted father. His pride and joy extended to his seven grandchildren: Hunter Roberie, Skylar Roberie, Jordyne Rogers, Morgan Rogers, Paislee Pennison, Kinlee Pennison, and Rowe Pennison.
Buddy was a dedicated employee for Farmland Industries for over twenty plus years and served as the office manager. His service to Farmland never ceased by volunteering to oversee the property the plant was located on. After Farmland, Buddy served as the operations manager for NuStar, which he oversaw ammonia pipeline operations for the state of Louisiana. Buddy also provided a life of service by serving as the Chief of the Dry Prong Volunteer Fire Department for fifteen years. He continued to serve as an active member for over thirty years. Additionally, Buddy served on the Grant Parish School Board for over sixteen years, which he served as School Board President for four of those years. Buddy also served in the United States Coast Guard upon graduating High School and served his country admirably.
Buddy found solace by being close to lakes, rivers, and oceans. Buddy grew up spending time on the Gulf of Mexico with his father and Uncle Bill, and is the reason why he loved waterways. In his retirement, Buddy loved to visit Caney Lake and spend time at his property. He was most at peace when he saw his children and grandchildren enjoying Caney Lake.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Dianne; his children, Tiff, Kim (Chris), and Shane (Jessica); his grandchildren, Hunter Roberie, Skylar Roberie, Jordyne Rogers, Morgan Rogers, Paislee Pennison, Kinlee Pennison, and Rowe Pennison; one brother, Garland Pennison; three sisters, Marla Pennison, Lyndall Saadat, and Wynette Thorn; and good friend, Brent Latas, whom will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Pennison and LaVerne Vining Pennison.
No service will be held per Buddy's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Town of Dry Prong Park because he dedicated his retirement years to serving the community of Dry Prong. Please contact the Town Hall of Dry Prong, LA for donation information.
All arrangements are under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
