Roland Tekampe

Roland Tekampe, 85, of Grayslake, passed away peacefully on December 27th. He was the beloved Brother of Donald, Karen Gehrig, Linda Chrisanti and Joan Paukstis; and a cherished uncle to Robert and Keith Gehrig, Michelle Cotham, David and Derek Tekampe, Diane Le Beau, Donna Bednar, Stacey and Chris Chrisanti, Garrett Paukstis and Allison Ducharme. Roland was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Lucille Tekampe, and his sister Gloria Tekampe.
A proud Libertyville High School graduate of the Class of 1958, Roland was blessed with a sharp, analytical mind and a deep respect for punctuality. He worked as a truck driver, landscaper, and at the local feed store, and found joy in planting and tending his vegetable garden. A devoted parishioner and usher at St. Mary's in Fremont Center, Roland lived his faith through service and kindness. Roland's quick wit and playful teasing brought laughter to family gatherings, especially to his nieces and nephews, who adored his sense of humor. An avid bowler, he traveled to numerous tournaments each year, enjoying both the competition and the camaraderie it brought.
Visitation for Roland will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Mon. Jan. 19th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tues. Jan 20th at St. Mary of the Annunciation, 22333 W Erhart Rd, Fremont Center with interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to The Parkinson's Foundation, honoring Roland's life and legacy.
