Rolland Wilbur De Winter, 95 of Sparta, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Rolland was born July 10, 1930, the son of Lee and Gladys De Winter. He served his country proudly in the US Army. Rolland married the former Virginia Levandoski on June 21, 1952 and together they were blessed with four children and 73 years of marriage. Rolland worked as a dairy farmer which was a lifelong dream. He enjoyed his farm and you could find him looking over the cattle and the crops right up until the end. Later in life he discovered a love for sheep that he raised on his farm. He also enjoyed being outdoors and frequented his cottage where he relished nature and fishing. He could fix everything! Without any directions, he somehow found a way to make things work. The most important thing to him was always his family. A hard-working, loving and strong willed man, he was always the first to lend a helping hand and who will be deeply missed.
Rolland is survived by: his wife, Virginia; children, Connie (Alan) Christy, Rolland Jr. (Sharon) De Winter, Judy (Fred) Van Dyken, and Peter (Sherri) De Winter; grandchildren, Rochelle (Jim), Angela (Dan), Jennifer (Chris), Aaron (Ashley), Elizabeth, Fred, Matt (Stacy); great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kylee, Jack, Caleb, Bradley, Ella, Maddison, Lucas, Noah, Graham, and Emi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Arlo; sisters, Genevieve, and Lorraine; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ronald, and Katherine.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Apple Valley Events 2124 12 Mile Rd NW, Sparta. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the start of the service. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be at Blythefield Memorial Gardens.
