Roma Lucile Yock

Roma Lucile (McCleery) Yock, 100-year-old resident of the Vici Nursing Home passed from this life June 8, 2025. She was born in Dewey County in the home of her parents, J.S. McCleery and Mabel Nellie (Piercy) McCleery on December 13, 1924. Her early years were spent north of Vici, OK. before moving with her parents to the family home east of Vici. Roma attended a country school before graduating from Vici Public School with the class of 1944. She was employed as a teacher and also as a secretary during her lifetime. She was united in marriage to Virgil "Wayne" Yock in Newton, KS in 1947 and one child, Fredrick Lee blessed their marriage. In 1958 Roma was baptized and became a member of the Baptist Church. Wayne and Roma enjoyed the fellowship of the church and were active supporters of church activities. They lived numerous places during their 45 years of marriage including Kansas, New Mexico and Texas in the winter. Following the loss of Wayne, Roma returned to make her home in Vici, OK. Roma was a devoted wife, she enjoyed sewing, doing crochet work, quilting, dancing and was considered a jack of all trades. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, her son Lee and her siblings, Sylvia Miller, Wanna May McCleery Young and her husband Ralph, Jack McCleery and his wife Nora, her nephews, Mike Miller, Kenneth Young and David McCleery and other loved ones. Survivors include four nieces, Arleta Randall and husband Elwin, Reia Lenhart, Beverly Sweet and husband Melvin and Dianna Williams and husband Randy; two granddaughters, Amanda and Rometa Yock; brother-in-law, Eddie Miller and numerous other relatives. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Vici Nursing Home for their care, kindness and attention during Roma's final years.
