Johnny Yock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home and Crematory - Corvallis on May 7, 2025.
Johnny "Jai" Clyde Yock was born on July 22, 1953 in his mother's hometown of Bremerton, WA and passed away in Corvallis, OR on April 21, 2025. He was 71 years old.
He is preceded in death by his mother: JoAnn Cecelia Crawford Yock Dunbar; his father: Lewis Merel Yock; a brother: Ted Daniel (Wayne Michael) Yock, and his nephew: Chad Everest Yock.
Jai lived in the Albany, OR area since the '90's as he and other siblings were drawn to the Victorian architecture and renovation of such properties as these beautiful painted ladies. Jai graduated from Tigard High School and proceeded to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served for four years and became a hospitalman as well as a first call and cardiology specialist during the Viet Nam era. Upon leaving the military, he worked with his brothers as a framer and also independently as a professional home builder. Johnny "Jai" was a gifted mechanical designer like his father (who held 17 patents) and his grandfather-the inventor of the clothes dryer. Jai's automotive expertise was well known from a very young age. Assisting people with their car troubles was his ministry and he performed it so well as unto the Lord. He loved rock music and made it to the Woodstock rock festival as a 15-year-old. Jai loved all animals and from his boyhood was very skilled in protecting and treating them. Everybody who knew Jai would get to know his dogs since he included them in his adventures.
An honors salute will be given at the Willamette Memorial VA Cemetery at 11800 SE Mt. Scott in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 3:00 pm sharp. Friends and family are welcome to attend but be there at 2:15 to gather by 2:30. A memorial wake will be held with family and friends afterwards as we celebrate the lives of both Jai and Chad who passed only seven months prior.
