Romaine Janeczek

Romaine (Zukowski) Janeczek passed away peacefully in her 94th year on December 23rd in Newport, RI., surrounded by love. She was the devoted wife of the late Paul L. Janeczek for 52 years.
Romaine was born on April 14, 1929 in Dickson City, PA. She was the daughter of the late Walter Zukowski and Anna Carneski. She is survived by children Ann (Matthew) Jankowski of RI, Paul L. Janeczek Jr. of MO, Pamela Harvey of MA and Lorraine (Robert) Megenis of CT. She leaves grandchildren Jacquelyn (Kevin) Harder of MA, Kimberly Thompson of NC, Robert P. Harvey of CT, Nathan (Corale) Janeczek of WA and great-grandchildren Margaret (Molly), Claire and Hannah Harder and Cayden Janeczek.
From an early age, Romaine loved music and was a singer and musician in a trio that performed in New York, New Jersey and Canada. She volunteered for many years at the Easton, CT Senior Center and joined in their many adventures with her husband Paul going to NY plays, musicals, dinners and New England sight-seeing excursions. She loved animals, her garden, fashion, summer picnics, family dinners and hosting dinner parties with her friends and Hallmark movies!
Romaine delighted in sharing family traditions and her greatest joy was being surrounded by family, especially at Christmas time. All who knew her throughout her life were treated to her graciousness, patient listening, her sense of humor and positive outlook even in the face of adversity. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held with visitation hours Thursday January 4 from 9:00-10:30 at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield, Ct. followed by the graveside service at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Easton, CT.
