Romeo A. Dancel, departed this life on Thursday, September 25th, 2025 at the age of 73 surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved resident of Millville, NJ since 1982, Romeo was born in Camiling, Philippines, and brought joy and warmth to all who knew him.
Romeo graduated class valedictorian in the Philippines and went on to earned a Bachelor's degree in the Business of Science administration in 1974 in Manila. He worked as a manager and supervisor at various Casinos in Atlantic City to include the Resorts, Atlantis and Showboat Casinos. In 1992 Romeo decided to go back to school for nursing and graduated from the Cumberland County Vocational Technical Center's Practical Nursing Program to which he received his Licensed Practical Nursing license in 1993. Romeo worked at Lincoln Specialty for a short period until he began working at the Vineland Developmental Center in Vineland, NJ where he retired as an LPN in 2017. His compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the individuals he cared for.
Romeo was also the primary caregiver of his mother and special needs brother for several years. His home also served as a temporary dwelling place for his siblings and many nieces and nephews as they immigrated to the United States. Romeo played a crucial role in his family's ability to become dignified citizens as he provided them with the essentials to establish their own household and independence.
Romeo was a man of many passions. He loved having morning Bible studies and working in his garden. He found joy in crabbing and fishing, and he was often found at the casinos or playing cards with family. An avid tennis player, Romeo also loved karaoke and cherished spending time with his family and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Yvette Dancel-Gonzalez (Santiago), and his cherished grandchildren, Danine and Giovanni Gonzalez, along with his great-granddaughter, Elaina. Romeo is also survived by his siblings: Florencia Baker (Gerald), Josie Oteyza (Javier), Gloria Lazaro (Alberto), Regidor Dancel (Lorinda), Sosima Villamil (Emmanuel), Ronnie Dancel (Edita), Mauro Dancel, and Marjorie Guevarra (Juan), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cayetano and Conchita Dancel, and his sister, Vilma Augustine.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a viewing to be held at Christy Funeral Home in Millville, NJ, on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will follow immediately at 4:00 pm. Cremation will follow and be held privately.

Yesterday

I remember Romeo was a kind and soft spoken human, he truly loved his family. He was a great father in law and I will truly miss him. He was such a great tennis player the Millville high school tennis coach asked him to stop playing with the players because he was beating them so easily it was hurting their confidence !!
