Ronnie Eugene "Ron" Casey, 75, of rural Kanopolis, died June 8, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1949, in Hutchinson, to Ralph E. and Minnie S. (Weathers) Casey.
Ron attended Hutchinson schools and joined the United States Army in 1970 before finishing high school. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972. Ron worked in maintenance at Betts Baking Company for many years in addition to owning KC's auto repair for several years. He loved fishing near his home on Beaver Lake, Arkansas, at Kanopolis Lake, at the large pond at his home near Kanopolis Park and spending time with family there.
On October 31, 1971, Ron married Melody S. Kasselman. They had two sons and later divorced. On October 10, 2023, he married Sylvia J. (Sholin) Mathias. She survives.
Also surviving are: his sons, Brian Casey (Connie) of Hutchinson, Brad Casey (Stephanie) of Wichita; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Casey of Hutchinson, Jimmy Casey (Tina) of Burrton; sister-in-law, Vickie Casey of Buhler; Brian and Brad's mother, Melody Kasselman-Wieczorek of Buena Vista, CO; and many extended family members.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reno County Veterans' Memorial, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
