Ron Hamel

Ron Hamel, a beloved husband, father, PopPop, and pillar of his community, passed away on March 28th, 2024 in Granbury, Texas. Born on August 21, 1940 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to loving parents Edward and Twila Hamel. Ron was a man of unwavering strength and integrity who touched the lives of all those around him.
A devoted family man at heart, Ron's love for his wife, Jean Allen Hamel and their children: Kelly Jean Shoff (and husband Steve), Kristen Hamel Henderson (and husband Kim Alan), and Karen Sue Davis was immeasurable. His grandchildren Alexis Nelson, Makayla Woody, Ryan Henderson, Emily Henderson and Branson Davis were the light of his life. Preceded in death before him are his parents: Edward and Twila Hamel, grandson: David Denning, sister: Gerry Snyder.
Ron's calmness in the storm brought comfort to those around him during difficult times. He stood as a rock for his family-protective and emotionally steady through every trial they faced. His logical mind guided them through challenges with wisdom and grace.
An avid golfer and sportsman with an unyielding dedication to serving others; he lived by example as a protector and humble leader. Ron had resided in Pecan Plantation for 24 years. President for two out of the three years he spent on the Board of Directors at Pecan Plantation along with several years spent on Pecan Fire & EMS Board showed how much he cared about making his community better.
His professional endeavors reflected this same spirit as Director of Human Relations for Occidental Petroleum.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 6pm until 7:30pm at Wiley Funeral Home. Service was held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10am at Acton Methodist Church. Interment followed at Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Ron leaves behind many loving family members who will forever cherish memories made with such an extraordinary man whose legacy will live on through their hearts forevermore.
