Ron "Ton" Kirkpatrick, 68, of Walnut, died at 7:56 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his residence in Walnut.
Ron was born December 5, 1955 in Chanute, a son of Earl and Marie (Bollig) Kirkpatrick.
He attended St. Patrick's grade school in Walnut before graduating from Girard High School in 1974.
Ron married Charlene Davidson on April 16, 1977 in Walnut. She survives of the home.
He worked at Blair Trailers at rural Erie and later at Birdview in Chanute. He worked as a machinist at Ducommun in Parsons from 1985 until he retired in 2021 due to his health.
Ron enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and shooting skeet. Ron was a baseball and softball coach for his children, and he enjoyed playing co-ed softball for many years.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Walnut, Walnut Ruritan, now the Walnut Community Service Organization, Walnut Volunteer Fire Department and a former Boy Scout leader.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Charlene, of the home are his son, Craig (Sierra) Kirkpatrick of Walnut; his daughters, Amanda (Mike) Gitchell of Walnut and Kim (Richard) Kirkpatrick of Walnut; his grandchildren, Kiersten Gitchell, Jordyn Gitchell, Zakary Kirkpatrick, Kaden McClearen, and Makenna Kirkpatrick; his brothers, Eugene Kirkpatrick of Sun City, Arizona, Kenneth (Donna) Kirkpatrick of Walnut, Daniel (Marsha) Kirkpatrick of Walnut, Steven (Tina) Kirkpatrick of Girard, Thomas (Marla) Kirkpatrick of Erie, and Christopher Kirkpatrick of Walnut; his sister-in-law, Penny (Nick) Davidson of Neodesha; his brothers-in-law, Claude Westhoff of Girard, Charlie (Carol) Davidson of Radley, John Davidson of Walnut, Lyle Davidson of Chanute; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathlene "Kathy" Westhoff on March 29, 2021,
his sisters-in-law, Katherine Kirkpatrick, Linda Myers, Debbie Kirkpatrick, Patty Kirkpatrick, Brenda Davidson.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, in the Walnut Hall. Private
family committal services will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Walnut.
Memorials are suggested to Millie's Meals, and these may be left at the service, the Farmer's Bank of Walnut, and the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
