Jean Alice Kirkpatrick passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on May 27, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Winfred William and Leona Vera (Beyersdorf) Ballien.
Jean lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She found joy in the simple pleasures—curling up with a good mystery novel, spending quiet hours knitting, and sharing her warmth with those around her. Her gentle spirit and steady presence were a source of comfort to many.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her children, Libby (Dan) Palmer and Thomas (Rae) Stoddard; her grandchildren Brandon Hoffman, Corey (Jordan Blackwell) Weber, Hunter Stoddard, and Madison Stoddard; and her great grandson, Graham Weber. She is also survived by her brother, Elton (Kay) Ballien; nieces Lisa (Annaka) Ballien, Sheila (Paul) Gosling, Jill (Wayne) McCarthy, Leona Vera, and Jessica (Bryan) Smith; lifelong friends Karen Rebuehr and Pat Pence; and a special family friend, Keith Weber. Many other extended family members and friends will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Lane A. Stoddard; her sister, Joann Graffam, and Joann’s husband, Walter Graffam; as well as her dear friend, Kathy Nieman. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Great Lakes Pace and A&D Home Hospice, whose kindness and support meant more than words can express.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603, on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Christina Schultz officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Those wishing to honor Jean’s memory may consider a donation to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or Amazing Grace Animal Rescue, 3365 Freeland Rd., Saginaw, MI 48604. Online condolences may be shared at https://www.casefuneralhome.com/.
