Ron Ledgerwood

Ron Ledgerwood gracefully departed this world on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on April 12, 1937, in Seminole, Oklahoma, Ron's life was remarkable, touching all he came in contact with. A proud graduate of Seminole High School in 1955, Ron went on to the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his degree in 1959. It was during these formative years that he met the love of his life, Alpha Smith. The couple married in November of 1959 in Elk City, Oklahoma, embarking on a journey together that would be rich with blessings and achievements.

In 1962, Ron and Alpha moved to Houston, where he devoted much of his professional life to Xerox. In 1982, they relocated to Lubbock, a place that would become their forever home, where Ron continued to work for Xerox. They became members of Sunset Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for many years. Throughout his career, Ron proved to be not just a dedicated employee but also a steadfast pillar of support for his family, always encouraging their dreams and aspirations. Deeply integrated into the community, Ron was a passionate supporter of his grandchildren, Taylor and Michaela. He was a fixture at Lubbock Christian School and Lubbock Christian University, rarely missing a sporting event. His warmth and inclusive nature meant he never met a stranger; he had a gift for forging friendships that endured, sharing stories that could enthrall for hours.

In addition to his devotion to his family, Ron found joy and solace in the serene landscapes of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Ron and Alpha shared many great memories with family and friends at their cabin in the trees over the years. Ron was a member of The Lodge golf course and loved the game of golf. He reconnected regularly with the community and friends there.

In 2005, he was inducted into the Seminole High School Basketball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma, a testament to his enduring legacy in a sport that he held dear.

Ron is survived by his son, Kip Ledgerwood, and fiancé, Bridget Faulkenberry of Lubbock; grandchildren, Taylor Brown and wife Chelsey, and Michaela Brown; and great-grandchildren, Hudson, Beckett, and Alivia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. O. and Gladys (Chandler) Ledgerwood; wife of 61 years, Alpha, who passed in 2021; daughter, Mitzi Brown, who passed in 2009; and two dear sisters, Jonna Kaye Ledgerwood and Jeri Anne Baker.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Sunset Church of Christ.
