Ron L. Madinger

Ron L. Madinger, age 52, of Thompsonville, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. in Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
He was born on November 28, 1972, in Carbondale, IL to Richard and Nancy (Peck) Madinger.
He was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1991.
Ron worked as a coal miner for over thirty years, employed at the Mach Mine near Johnston City, IL.
He was a member of the Akin Mason Lodge A.F. & A.M. #749 of Thompsonville and was a member of Vinyard Chapel Church in Hardin County, IL.
Ron was a gentle giant of man – quiet and private, but would go out of his way to help anyone he could, never seeking attention or thanks, simply wanting to lend a helping hand. He was content to be on his forty acres of land working. He enjoyed clearing brush, mowing and doing yard work. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time outdoors. Most of all, Ron loved his family, especially his nieces and nephew, and he dearly loved his two dogs.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Madinger of Marion, IL; brother, Bryan Madinger and wife, Kristina, of Marion, IL; nieces, Kaylee Madinger of Marion, IL and Kamryn Beasley and husband, Hunter, of Pittsburg, IL; nephew, Bryan Madinger, Jr. of Marion, IL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members and friends; and his two beloved dogs, Sis and Tank.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Madinger; and two aunts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
The visitation will be at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will resume on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Masonic Rites will be accorded at the funeral home on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. by members of the Akin Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #749.
Following the time of visitation on Tuesday, the funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with Wade Finnie presiding.
Burial will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
