Ron Pendley Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel from Dec. 30 to Dec. 31, 2025.
Ronald Dean Pendley was born on October 30, 1945, and passed from this life on December 28, 2025.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged following his service. His commitment to service did not end there; it became a defining theme throughout his life as he dedicated himself to guiding and teaching others.
Teaching and coaching were Ron's true passions. He spent many years shaping young minds as an art and English teacher, earning the respect and admiration of both his peers and his students. Known for his playful spirit and love of practical jokes, Ron brought laughter into the classroom and became a favorite teacher to many. He believed learning should be engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable, and his humor made a lasting impression on countless students.
On the field and track, Ron was an inspiring coach who led athletes to grow not only in their sports but also in character and confidence. He coached football and track at U.S. Grant High School and later found great joy in coaching his grandchildren's T-ball and soccer teams. Ron lived an active life with and for his children and grandchildren, leading by example and demonstrating his values through the time he spent with them by attending every recital, every performance, and sporting event he could, whether in person or cheering them on from home during televised events. Even then he loved a good prank and was always ready with a joke, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.
Ron also enjoyed watching OU football and the Miami Dolphins, taking particular pride in cheering on his teams and watching his granddaughter, Haylee, perform on the dance teams. One of his proudest moments came when he learned that his grandson, Morgan, had enlisted in the military, a moment that reminded him of his own service and filled him with pride that another family member was continuing that legacy.
His passion for mentoring youth extended beyond school and athletics into his church community, where he assisted with youth programs and taught Sunday school. He also devoted time to teaching high school students and GED programs to adult students, opening doors to education and opportunity for many. Through his dedication, compassion, and leadership, Ron positively impacted numerous individuals and families, leaving lives forever changed for the better.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Pamela Anetje Pendley; his children, Mindy Erickson and husband Travis, Melissa Robinson and husband James; his grandchildren, Kaylee Gatlin and husband Andy, Haylee Erickson, Cade Erickson, Morgan Robinson, and Natalie Robinson; his great-grandchildren, Bentley Gatlin and Bradley Gatlin; his sisters, Almo Jo Patton and Dorothy Massey; his sister-in-law, Susie Pendley; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Pendley and Ruby Lee Pendley, and his brother, Jerry Pendley.
Ron's legacy is one of service, laughter, leadership, and unwavering dedication to others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
