Ron Weller

Defiance - Ron L. Weller, age 68, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on July 12, 1953, to Roger and Dortha (Stucky) Weller in Defiance, Ohio. On July 20, 1996, he married Susan (Weber) Weller who survives.

Ron was a faithful member of First Church of God in Defiance and previously taught Sunday School at Dupont Church of the Brethren. He was a medic for over 30 years, and owned TriMed EMS for 25 years. He attended Buckeye Boys State and flew as a medic on an OSU Hospital chopper. He volunteered for the Red Cross and Ayersville Fire Department, and worked as a medic for Continental EMS. He taught EMS, ACLS and CPR for several years. Ron enjoyed history, and was a huge Cleveland Indians fan.

Ron loved his family with his whole heart. He loved Christmas, spending the holidays with his family, and traveling. He loved spending summers at the lake with his family water skiing and fishing. Ron also worked as a "carnie" carnival worker during the summer months.

Ron will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan Weller of Defiance, his mother, Dortha Weller of Cloverdale, Ohio, and his children, Dan (Emily) Weller of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jennifer (Ben Ankney) Hoellrich of Napoleon, Ohio, Eric (Becky Baughman) Bielser of Payne, Ohio, Cassie (John Guyton) Clark of Delphos, Ohio, and Karla (Brent) Kaufman of Ottawa, Ohio. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his sister, Susan (Dwight) Walton of Tiffin, Ohio, and his brother, Rodney (Carla) Weller of Cloverdale, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his granddaughter, Brittany Cass.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home and our lounge area will remain closed. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at First Church of God, with Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
