Ronald devoted over 50 years to his career as a crane operator at various local shipyards until his retirement in 2019. Ronald was known for his warmth and generosity, always ready to lend an open ear. As a father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he created countless memories filled with joy and laughter. He had a passion for barbecues and drink a few, where he loved to gather with family and friends, while sharing stories and making lasting connections. One of his most treasured pastimes was watching his son and friends play pool, a moment that always brought him great joy. He also took pleasure in making homemade boudin alongside his son, a testament to their strong bond and shared love for cooking. Ronald enjoyed being on the water and riding in boats. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, cheering passionately for his team.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Nikki Arnaud of Marrero; his grandchildren, Gage Arnaud, Claire Arnaud, and Parrish Cascio; his brother, Marvin Arnaud of Opelousas; his sisters, Rose Breaux of Texas, Margaret Thibodeaux of Sunset, and Cecille Dupre of Opelousas; his sisters-in-law, Diane Arnaud of Opelousas, and Charlene Arnaud of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ronald is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ida Eva "Sis" Arnaud; his parents, Lloyd Arnaud and Evelyn Miller Arnaud; his daughter, Penny Arnaud Cascio; his son, Ronald "Ronnie" Arnaud, Jr.; his grandsons, Keithy Cascio and Gavin Arnaud; his sister, Evelyn Kidder; and his brothers, Elvin Arnaud and wife, Gerry; Francis Arnaud, Lloyd Arnaud, Jr., and Leon Arnaud. He is also preceded by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Arnaud; and his brothers-in-law, John Dupre, Russell Thibodeaux, J. Roy Breaux, and Ackel Kidder.
The family would like to give special thanks to a family friend, Terry Leonard, his daughter-in-law, Nikki Arnaud and his sister, Cecille Dupre who helped with Ronald's care. They would also like to thank Todd and Roxanna Breaux for their encouraging support and lifting his spirits and also for cooking special meals.
