Ronald Edison Boggs, known for his dedication to family, country, and community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on July 11th, 1949, in
New Albany, Indiana, Ron lived a life filled with love and service that began with his upbringing and continued through his professional and personal endeavors. He was a resident of
Sellersburg, Indiana at the time of his passing.
Ron graduated from Clarksville High School in 1968, shortly before serving honorably in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1972. As a member of a helicopter crew responsible for sea-air rescue missions, he bravely contributed to the safety and security of his fellow servicemen and women.
After his military service, Ron embarked on a fulfilling career with Norfolk Southern Railway, where he found his calling as a railroad engineer. He retired after 36 years of dedicated service, having forged strong bonds and earned the respect of his colleagues. He took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering dedication and passion for the railway.
Away from the tracks, Ron spent countless hours cultivating his vegetable garden, a peaceful retreat that brought joy to him and his family. His garden was a testament to his love of nature and nurtured his spirit with every season. He loved yard sales, woodworking and rehabbing anything broken and old. He took great joy in fixing things from toys to appliances.
Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marsha Lynne Boggs, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised a family that continues to honor his legacy of integrity, hard work, and kindness.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha, and their loving children: Katie Roessler (Heath), Amanda Boggs, and Aaron Boggs (Katy). He was a proud grandfather to Carly Holland, Grace Thomas (Brayden), Allison Boggs, Stella Boggs, and Tucker Roessler-each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edison Boggs and Beulah Mae Boggs, as well as his sister, Wanda Noble, brother-in-law, JB Noble, and nephew, Kenny Noble.
