Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home on Feb. 18, 2026.
The memorial service for Ronald 'Ron' Bolduan, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 11:00am, Friday, February 20, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Jacob Smith officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Ron died Tuesday, February 17, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.

Ronald Richard was born March 8, 1942, in Pierre, SD. His parents, Archibal and Adella (Maschke) Bolduan raised him in Aberdeen. He attended school there, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School. Ron then attended South Dakota State University and earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Ron worked at Aberdeen TV and Appliance and later at the KABY Television station.

On April 12, 1971, Ronald was united in marriage to Darlys Howe in Aberdeen. Ron worked at A&M Radio until he retired. He continued to make service calls and then started work at Midwest Alarm and was pivotal at bringing Midcontinent into Aberdeen. From the 1970s through the 1990s Ron installed radios in the Aberdeen Police Department patrol cars. He was a member of Hub City Amateur Radio and Aberdeen Backyard Astronomy.

Ron was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served as past president, on the board of elders, and many other positions. He was always willing to help others and volunteered to usher for many funerals. Ron was an avid ham radio operator with the call sign WDOHWL. He made numerous friends and connections around the world through his radio. Through his work with Ham radios, Ron was also a weather spotter. He collected various electronics and tried to fix many of them. He loved animals and had dogs, cats, rats, and hamsters. Ron enjoyed setting off fireworks with his family. He grew Kohlrabies and entered them at the Brown County Fair. He loved to visit with people, laugh, and was a terrific storyteller. He enjoyed spending time with his morning coffee buddies. Ron loved candy, especially chocolate. He would often cook treats when his children got together with their friends, and he always had to press out the Spritz cookies for Christmas.

Grateful for having shared Ron's life are his children: Kenneth Bolduan, Rick (Keri) Bolduan, and Karen Bolduan.

Preceding Ron in death are his parents, Archie and Adella, his wife, Darlys, and his sister, Barbara Bolduan.

WDOHWL clear.
