Ronald "Ron" Bremer Obituary
Ronald "Ron" M. Bremer, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at home surrounded by family and under the care of Compassus Hospice.
A memorial service for Ron will take place at 11: 00 AM on Wednesday, January, 31, 2024, with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel lwinski officiating. Burial will take place at Medford Evergreen 1. Military rites will be performed by the Medford Military Honors Team following the service.
Ron was born on March 8, 1935 to Melvin and Leila (Wimer) Bremer in Abbotsford. After school, he enlisted in the Marines, serving in Korea up on the Demilitarized Zone for 1 year. He married Marlene J. Frey in 1959 and after a 5 year break in service, he was called up during the Berlin Crisis. He served in the US Army for 16 years as a paratrooper and member of the US Army Special Forces, Green Berets, with 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam and finishing his career as 1st Sgt with an AIT Brigade at Ft. Benning, GA. After retirement, they returned to Medford and Ron worked as a carpenter, roofer, bus driver and was the areas only Certified Locksmith for many years.
Ron enjoyed shooting and reloading shells, hunting and being outdoors camping, traveling, hiking, biking and skiing. He and Marlene wintered in Texas for many years and were members of the Central Wisconsin Country Dancers for 27 years.
Ron is survived by his wife, Marlene, children, Susan (Geoff) Bremer-Eaton of Dorset, England and Stephanie (Ronald) Hayton of Medford. Also surviving is a sister, Avis Lebiecki of Lacrosse, 4 brothers-in-laws, Marvin (Dorothy), Mark (Patricia), Marshall (Anne), and Michael (Gloria) Frey, sister-in-law, Marvel Bakri and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mae Ridderbush and brother, Melvin (Tim) Bremer Jr.
Memorials in Ron's name may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church & School.
