Ronald Briggs Obituary

Ronald A. Briggs, 83, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Ronald was born April 30, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Mabel (Cree) and Frank Briggs.

Ronald served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1973. He was employed at the University of Evansville in the housekeeping department. Ronald enjoyed spending time listening to music, watching movies, especially westerns, and collecting things. Ronald was an avid Elvis fan. He was a former member of Bethel United Church of Christ. Ronald was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family.

Ronald is survived by his daughters, Tammy Gibson and Terri Jagoe; son, Billy Briggs; grandchildren, Telea Boyd, Katilin Boyd and Elizabeth Boyd; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Genaveria, Alejandro, Mateo and Isabelle; siblings, Gerald T. (Shirley) VonEhr and Ted (Patricia) Sytsma.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Gayle (Behagg) Briggs; brothers, Harry Briggs and Thomas Briggs; and sister, Shirley Bonhon.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2026 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Garret officiating.

Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Vanderburgh County, P.O. Box 962, Evansville, IN 47706, Boy Scouts of America, Eykamp Scout Center, 3501 E. Lloyd Expressway, Evansville, IN 47715 or the Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana, 5000 E. Virginia, Suite #2, Evansville, IN 47715.

The family extends their special thanks to the staff at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Ronald.
