Petersen Family Funeral Home - NewtonROBERT GEOFFREY DOUCETTE
Robert Geoffrey Doucette, born March 14, 1953 in Lynn, Massachusetts passed away on January 27, 2026. His parents were Thomas and Jane Doucette who resided in Baltimore, Maryland. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, William and Richard. His three other siblings are Thomas Doucette, Jane Cooke (husband Doug and children Chelsea and Ryan), Barbara Bowman (husband Martin and son Case) and sister-in-law Lorraine (husband Richard and sons Steven and Kenneth).
Robert graduated from University of Evansville and then served seven years in the United States Air Force rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He enjoyed serving as a test manager for the Maverick Missile. He then continued his education and received his Masters degree from the Wharton School of Business.
On December 27, 1993, Robert married Margaret, the love of his life. Their life was enriched through their many travel experiences. Rob was of Irish descent and thus they made 5 trips to Ireland. Other travel experiences included trips to Greece, England, France, Scotland, New Zealand and many of the states.
Robert had a long career in strategic planning working for major telecommunications companies such as Sprint in Kansas City, Missouri and Alaska Communications Services in Anchorage, Alaska. Robert and Margaret enjoyed Alaska and took the opportunity to tour the state. Their Alaska experiences included watching the Iditarod dog sled race, a trip to the North Pole, visiting national parks, and hiking on glaciers.
Robert and Margaret spent their retirement years as year-round residents of Lake Kahola, a residential community outside of Emporia, Kansas. Their lakeside home gave them the opportunity to enjoy bird watching, swimming, kayaking and boating. They were often gracious hosts to many friends and family.
Robert enjoyed the solitude of the lake as it gave him the opportunity to explore creative writing and he could also spend time reading and cooking, often experimenting with new recipes.
Robert’s quick wit, his remarkable intellect and his kindness to others will be missed. He was a wonderful husband, brother, and a friend to many. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Schowalter Villa Garden Room at Lakeside Village on March 14, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A committal service will be announced at a later date.
In honor of Robert, donations can be sent to Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Fund, % Schowalter Villa, 200 West Cedar, Hesston, Kansas 67062.
