It was the generosity of Ron and Elizabeth that Capitol Area Statues (CAST) got its start, with the first of our statues, Philosophers Rock, at Barton Springs. Without that early vote of confidence, who knows if we could have proceeded. Ron and Elizabeth since became great friends. He honored the new life he was given with courage and joy. We will miss him.

We knew ron through his interest and enthusiasm for cars and his membership in the Austin Healey club. One of my favorite memories, which shows his spirit, is of him arriving at a Christmas party at our home in 1976, dressed in a full length raccoon coat so he could drive his car top down.

Ron held a very special place in Doug's heart and although I never met him myself, I know what a great person he was from all the wonderful things my husband would say about him. I want to thank him and Elizabeth from the bottom of my heart for giving Doug a chance. Our deepest sympathies go out to Ron's family and friends.

Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and the entire Carroll clan. We were all so pleased that Ron and Elizabeth came all the way to Ontario for the Carroll reunion this Fall. I had a wonderful visit with him and learned so much about his fascinating life and career. Another ancestor to be proud of. Laurie Lashbrook, daughter of Shirley (Carroll) Lashbrook.
